National-Scale Cobalt Geochemical Mapping of Exposed Crust in China

Geochemical background is the basis of anomaly evaluation in mineral exploration and environmental investigation. However, value obtained from secondary media inevitably affected by weathering, transportation, sorting, which leads to depletion or enrichment chemical elements. This problem can be avoided geochemical mapping exposed crust. In this paper, more than 38,000 samples rocks data were collected, an original method was presented for first time produce cobalt map crust across whole China. Using a geological grid 1:200,000 as basic calculation unit, area content rock types each unit calculated, then assigned using area-weighted average method. Based on this, contour drawn ArcGIS. The results show that median 9.74 mg/kg, lower soils. explained vertical heterogeneity enrichment, respectively. Co anomalies anomalous centers are distributed southwest, north, northwest China, where they primarily related Permian Emeishan Large Igneous Province (ELIP), Pacific plate, big mantle wedge (BMW), Archean metamorphic rocks, ophiolite belts.
